Abstract

The article presents the results of several surveys that analyse the book supply of Italian public libraries (through data on purchases made) and the use of analogue and digital collections (throughdata on loans and digital lending services). The considerable amount of analysed data (about half of the books bought and lent in Italian libraries) and the comparison with best-selling book rankings, statistics on the use of e-books and audio-books, an overview of books shared by reading groups, etc. allow us to study the ongoing changes in the library offer and in users’ reading behaviour.
